In 1941, Ernst and Ida Meier founded the Meier Bakery and Confectionery in Wiesendangen. What began as a venture has, thanks to great personal commitment and the necessary business acumen, developed into a successful, modern business. Mobilization during this period made the start more difficult.
After 31 years of hard work, Ernst Meier handed the business over to his son Ruetli Meier. The new generation began to expand the business, and the first existing shops were rebuilt and refurbished to modern standards. With his wife Helga, he continued the tradition and successfully led the bakery into the future.
In 1994, they began thinking about further expansion. In 1995, they finalized the project, and began planning the new building that has became the simultaneous challenge of a big building project came the birth of another generation. They decided to pass the business over to the next generation. With a new deck oven and a rack oven, a large storage cell, and a formulation shop system. A new bread system and heating system also installed. A new shop was also built. Ruetli and Manuela Meier took over the business on January 1, 1997. Today's bakery is certainly exemplary and a step ahead of its time.
Within 10 years, sales have doubled. The number of employees rose from 9 to 18 full-time positions. The bakery is one of the largest employers, with 3 apprenticeships, also one of the most important in the village. We also have a social responsibility in today's world. Despite our encouraging development, we do not want to grow at any price. Our benchmark is not size, but quality.
